Cambridge 105 DAB transmissions
The Cambridge 105 community radio station, which is supported by radio
amateurs in the Camb-Hams group, should commence full DAB broadcasting
on Friday, September 11. The station asks for reception reports
A post of their website says:
UPDATE: We’re now expecting the go-ahead for full DAB transmissions to
be given on Friday afternoon (September 11, 2015).
Test transmissions began on Wednesday and can be heard across the city
centre, Milton, Fulbourn, Hinxton, Thriplow, Haslingfield and
Grantchester.
If you have a DAB radio you can get ready by retuning or scanning your
receiver to pick up the new Cambridge multiplex.
We’re part of a nationwide trial designed to enable small scale
stations such as Cambridge 105 to broadcast on the next generation
platform that has previously been the preserve of the major
broadcasting groups.
You’ll still be able to hear Cambridge 105 on 105 MHz FM, online
atwww.cambridge105.fm and the RadioPlayer app.
For the Cambridge trial Cambridge 105 has joined forces with UKRD, the
company behind local station Star Radio, for the only split site test
in the country. It uses Cambridge 105’s site at the OLEM church on
Hills Road and the Star Radio facility at the Gog Magog Hills to
broadcast a multiplex of stations, all of them new to DAB in
Cambridge. One of the features of DAB is that it can reuse the same
frequencies at relatively short distances.
Reception reports can be sent to dab cambridge105.fm
