Icom America to provide webcast of Youth Forum event at Dayton Hamvention

Icom America is broadcasting the 2015 Youth Forum at Dayton
Hamvention® online at www.icomamerica.com/dayton2015.

The annual event is moderated by Carole Perry WB2MGP of Radio Club of
America (RCA) and comprises amateur radio presentations from eight
talented hams whose ages range 10-18 years. Special guests, including
American Astronaut Michael Fincke KE5AIT, will also be in attendance
at the Youth Forum.

The 2015 Youth Forum takes place during the Dayton Hamvention at
Ohio's Hara Arena (Room 2). Icom is a repeat sponsor of the event and
will provide a free live webcast of the Youth Forum on Saturday, May
16, from 9:15AM – 12:15PM, on its website. The company will also
provide each youth presenter with a limited edition ID-51A D-STAR
portable and customized merchandise. Icom has donated IC-7100 radio
has for this year's Youth Forum raffle prize.

Youth Forum events celebrate ingenuity, achievements and creative
activities of ham operators in elementary grades through college
undergraduate years. This year's event, organized and moderated by
Carole Perry, features the following youth presenters and topics:

Tyler Hammond KD8UAY (age 13): "Contesting for Elementary Students"
Abbigail Wilson KF5BEW (age 18) and Kendra Wilson KF5FYS (age 16):
"Youth and the Future of Ham Radio"
Sam Case KG7HBY (age 11): "The Friday Night QSO Party"
Jesse Shulins KB1YNK (age 17): "Pneumatic Mast Systems for the Radio Amateur"
Faith Hannah Lea WA4BBC (age 10) and Zechariah Lea WX4TVJ (age 12):
"Experiences in Antenna Selection, Construction, and use for VHF
Applications"
Cameron Thurston N8CAM (age 16): "Contesting with N3FJP Software"

The 2015 Youth Forum also welcomes popular amateur radio operators Bob
Heil K9EID and Gordon West WB6NOA as guest presenters. Additionally,
astronaut Mike Fincke, whose accomplishments include having spent just
under 382 days in space – the most of any American, is stopping by the
event. Door prizes will be distributed for adults and youth who are in
attendance.

Following the event, the 2015 youth presenters and 8 more young hams
from the Youth Forum audience will join Fincke for lunch as he
discusses his career, space travel and research on the International
Space Station. The luncheon is hosted by the American Relay Radio
League (ARRL)
