Make Magazine has published an article about using the Raspberry Pi
for amateur radio Slow Scan Television (SSTV)

In this project the Raspberry Pi with the PiCam is used as a wireless
camera which can transmit images over long distances.

The Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) will have a talk about the
Raspberry Pi on Tuesday, April 7. The meeting is open to all and there
is a Raspberry Pi as the raffle prize.
