Dia Mundial da Rádio


O Dia Mundial da Rádio celebra-se anualmente a 13 de fevereiro.

A data foi escolhida pois foi neste dia que a United Nations Radio emitiu
pela primeira vez, em 1946, um programa em simultâneo para um grupo de seis
países.

A data foi declarada em 2011 pela UNESCO e o primeiro Dia Mundial da Rádio
foi celebrado em 2012.

A rádio continua a ser o meio de comunicação social que atinge as maiores
audiências, continuando a adaptar-se às novas tecnologias e a novos
equipamentos, com a transmissão online via streaming, por exemplo. É um
meio bastante útil para a população, seja como ferramenta de apoio ao
debate e comunicação, na promoção cultural ou em casos de emergência
social. Para os profissionais de comunicação social é uma plataforma para
divulgarem factos e histórias.

A rádio acompanhou os principais acontecimentos históricos mundiais e hoje
continua a ser um meio de comunicação fundamental. Este meio de comunicação
social adaptou-se à era digital e continua a ser um meio fiável para a
população, que recebe a informação na hora, sendo uma das características
mais positivas da rádio.

World Radio Day 2015

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) is asking for participation in the celebrations for World Radio
Day on the February 13, 2015. The theme is ‘Youth and Radio’, with the goal
of promoting greater participation of youth in radio, not only as
listeners, but as producers and broadcasters.

Radio is the most easily accessible and commonly used form of media that we
have. It is an inexpensive medium that requires relatively simple
technology and its reach extends from policy makers to remote communities
and marginalized groups. Currently, too few programs focus on the concerns
of younger generations. This lack of youth participation is made worse by
the fact that a career in radio journalism is often difficult and
underpaid, regularly requiring aspiring journalists to work for free. In
addition to this, young professionals, including journalist and fixers, are
particularly at risk in conflict areas because of their lack of
preparation, training and support.
