The ANZAC 100 program begins

The radio amateurs from Australia and New Zealand visiting the
previous ANZAC battlefields in Turkey, France, Belgium and elsewhere,
are being very warmly welcomed and greeted.

ANZAC stands for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corp, which first
saw action on April 25, 1915, and went on to battle on the Western
Front. They also featured in the WWII conflict, and have played a role
for their nations since.

The terrible loss of life and injuries suffered by them is remembered,
particularly on ANZAC Day, April 25. It has been a centenary since the
first ANZACs, and a WIA program called ANZAC 100 involves all radio
amateurs begins this weekend.

All VK stations may also use the alternative AX prefix at the weelend.

Throughout VK and ZL there will be nine commemorative stations, each
with the suffix of ANZAC. The Trkiye Radyo Amatrleri Cemiyeti is
greeting visitors to Gallipoli Cove, and giving radio amateurs there a
little gift.

This ensuring international friendship will also have nine
TC100-prefixed stations in Turkey, at Polygon Wood in Belgium now a
war cemetery and memorial is OP0PPY.

The New Zealand Amateur Radio Transmitters has ZL100ANZAC on air for a month.
