Propagation prediction for IMD
Steve G0KYA has produced a set of HF propagation predictions for UK
amateurs taking part in International Marconi Day on Saturday 25th
April.
International Marconi Day, held on the nearest Saturday to the
inventor's birthday, is when special event stations connected to the
inventor get on the air all over the world.
Amateurs taking part can win an award by contacting a certain number
of the stations –
see www.gb4imd.com
The predictions look at paths to the IMD stations in the UK, Italy,
Canada, the USA, Uruguay and Australia.
To work the UK-based stations, 40 metres (7MHz) is probably your best
bet. If 7MHz doesn't work for you (and after dark) revert to 80m
(3.5MHz).
There will be lots of Italian stations to work and 20 metres (14MHz)
will be the best band during the day. Look at 7MHz after sunset.
To work the stations on the east coast of the USA and Newfoundland,
again, 20m (14MHz) or 17m, (18MHz) are optimum.
