The annual on-the-air meeting of those engaged in amateur television
was held last weekend in the World DATV QSO Party directly though
anchors in three continents and wider though the British Amateur
Television Club web steaming.

Starting in 2011 the event is sponsored by Amateur Radio Victoria and
the Melbourne ATV Group.

On Friday night VK stations had a 'round robin' show and tell. The
topics and projects were incredibly diverse, with most undertaking
vast improvements.

John VK3DQ has a huge tower under construction. Peter VK3BFG showed a
200 watt PA being built. Jack VK3WWW had a very amusing pre-produced
video with his persona visiting him live on air, ... brilliant video
indeed.

The usual BBQ teasing between Mick VK3CH and John VK3DQ was upheld,
Mick's dinner looked better than what John displayed. Ross VK3CE
showed us around his well facilitated shack, the only rural country
Victoria participant.

Those that pre-recorded video of their projects were well produced
professional productions.

On the Saturday, there were four international net controllers - Peter
VK3BFG, Don KE6BXT, Art WR8DMC and Noel G8GTZ.

Overseas ATV repeaters linked to VK3RTV included W6ATN and WR8ATV in
the USA and GB3HV in England, as well as other International stations
via Skype.

The British Amateur TV Club streamers were more than full with log-ins
showing a wide national and international interest in the event. Peter
VK3BFG lost count of the numbers, but the event was certainly the most
watched to date.

Peter VK3BFG, after a sterling marathon event, is reviewing it to make
it even more enjoyable next year.
