Amateurs command NASA spacecraft

The *Daily Mail* newspaper reports that amateurs have been able to transmit
commands to a 35-year-old NASA spacecraft, the International Sun-Earth
Explorer 3 (ISEE-3)

A number of of radio amateurs have been involved in the attempts to receive
and command ISEE-3 including Dennis Wingo KD4ETA, Achim Vollhardt DH2VA and
Mario Lorenz DL5MLO.

The first command to ISEE-3 was successfully sent from the Arecibo Radio
Observatory in Puerto Rico.
