Something new happening this year

Welcome to *the 56th Jamboree-On-The-Air (JOTA)* and *the 17th
Jamboree-On-The-Internet (JOTI)*, which will take place during the weekend
of 19-20 October 2013. Don't forget to save the dates because this year you
will be challenged! JOTA is an annual event in which Scouts and Guides all
over the world make contact with each other by means of amateur radio.
Short-wave radio signals carry their voices to virtually all corners of the
world. Similar to JOTA, JOTI connects Scouts using Internet techniques.
JOTI is held on the same weekend as JOTA. Units can take part in one or
both events, and are warmly encouraged, where possible, to give both a try!

How do you connect with other Scouts?

ScoutLink IRC consists of several servers throughout the world that are
connected to each other. It was created to provide communication services
for Scouts and Guides of all ages, faiths and nationalities in a safe
environment.

Global Torch Race

The Global Torch Race is a challenge to create large cross-global teams
online. The mission of each team will be to gather as many Scouts from as
many countries as possible during the 48 hours of the JOTA-JOTI event. So
get prepared to join a Global Torch Team when JOTA-JOTI begins and be a
part of the fastest growing online Scout gathering you have ever seen. Are
you ready for the challenge? More information coming soon.

Do you think you will get bored?

No way! In *the LAB *you will find a collection of programme ideas that you
can use with your team to explore the many elements of communication that
are available in today's society. You will also get to know other
communication methods, which are worth exploring and having some fun with.
The LAB will be an experimental area, a discovery space for your ideas, so
all inputs will be welcome. On top of this, we will also be releasing
several challenges during the JOTA-JOTI weekend, so there is no chance of
getting bored. Get ready! Time is running out.
