Ofcom to manage release of 2.3 GHz and 3.4 GHz spectrum

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced that it will be handing
the management of its sale of spectrum in the 2.3 GHz and 3.4 GHz
bands to Ofcom

Ofcom say: Formerly used by the MoD for military purposes, this
spectrum includes 40 MHz located in the 2.3 GHz band and another 150
MHz above 3.4 GHz. These bands are in the process of being harmonised
across Europe for mobile broadband; and are therefore likely to be
used for 4G services.

Having already completed a number of successful spectrum releases,
including the recent 4G auction, Ofcom has significant experience and
expertise in this area and is well positioned to manage the process.
