ILLW registrations are growing

The International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend held each August
has 215 registrations from 30 countries so far, with the participants
ready with their portable amateur radio stations for these magnificent
structures.

The basic aim of the annual fun event is to promote a greater public
awareness of the conservation and restoration of the former important
maritime navigational light sources.

Australia has the most registrations at 41, closely followed by
Germany on 39, then the USA (23), England (17), Argentina (12),
Ireland and Scotland (9) Sweden (8), Canada (7), Netherlands (6), with
the remaining 20 countries making a sterling appearance.
