Radio hams rush to defend antenna

The Nelson Mail reports that radio hams from around New Zealand and
the world, have rallied in support of Nelson amateur radio enthusiast
Rick Kiessig ZL2HAM

Dallas Woods, who is understood to live in a property 100 metres from
the antenna, made a presentation to the council's public forum earlier
this month, asking councillors to change the rules so that amateur
radio aerials were no longer a permitted activity in residential zones
or the "landscape overlay" which covers city ridgelines.

This picture is said to have been taken outside the property of Dallas
Woods - she lives some 20 metres higher up the hill and 70 metres
horizontally from the antenna.

It differs from the carefully posed picture published in a previous
issue of the Nelson Mail which was taken just outside the home of
ZL2HAM.

If you look carefully you can spot the antenna just to the left of the tree.
