ILLW registrations ramp up

The annual International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend, on the third
weekend in August, has been joined by the Radio Club de Panama HP2TP, with
members ready to activate the Tora Point Lighthouse.

It was built as a navigation aid by the French who called the location
Pointe Taureau in 1893, and one of three metal lighthouses built by them in
the region.

On Kangaroo Island, Fleurieu Peninsula South Australia, the Adelaide Hills
Amateur Radio Society will be at Cape Willoughby Lighthouse as VK5CWL.

Those two are among 340 from more than 30 countries already registered for
the fun-filled event on August 17th and 18th.

Germany just leads Australia in registrations followed by the USA, England,
Argentina, and Sweden.

For the guidelines on lighthouses, lightships and maritime beacons and
their online registration see the website www.illw.net
