IARU Region 1 President activates summits

Hans PB2T, who is IARU Region 1 President, was in Dublin during the
past week for a CEPT civil/military working group meeting, and took
the opportunity to activate a few summits in the Wicklow hills.

Accompanied by Joe EI7GY, Hans climbed Croaghanmoira and operated on
30 metres and 40 metres, attracting plenty of interest from local and
continental European radio amateurs.

Later in the day, Hans and Joe moved to Trooperstown and found
contacts on the bands from 12 metres to 40 metres, including some
Stateside QSOs. All in all, Hans had more than 80 QSOs from the two
summits.

Looking at the SOTAwatch spots for the day we see that Hans and Joe
were not the only amateur radio operators on the Wicklow Hills, as
Marek EI7KH was nearby on Little Sugar Loaf mountain.
