Interest turns to the ILLW

With more than 190 registrations from 28 countries so far in the
International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend, held annually in
August, things are starting to heat up.

Germany remains in the lead on 39 closely followed by Australia with
37, then the USA (23), England (15) and Argentina (11).

The fun event is virtually at the half-way point with twice as many
registrations and individual countries expected in the coming weeks.

What lighthouse, lightship or maritime beacon will be the prestigious
200th to be registered this year?

Set up a portable amateur station at a lighthouse, lightship or
maritime beacon.

The basic objective is public awareness about the historic structures,
the need for their preservation, and to promote goodwill.
