The Computer-based Communications Revolution

In this 1990 unedited video from the WGBH Open Vault, Steve Jobs,
co-founder of Apple and founder of NeXT, talks about how desktop
computers would revolutionize person-to-person communications.

At 29:00 into the video, Steve describes how Ham Radio operators were
among those involved in the Homebrew Computer Club at Stanford,
believed to be the first computer club in the country. He recalls that
the first computer magazine Byte then came along to serve the growing
computer hobbyist market.

Byte magazine was founded by radio amateur Wayne Green W2NSD who
describes in his blog his involvement with Steve Jobs, see the 7/11/08
entry at
http://www.waynegreen.com/wayne/news-archive_2008.html

Steve Jobs also describes the Blue Boxes that he and Steve 'Woz'
Wozniak WA6BND / WV6VLY produced when they were in their teens. These
enabled people to avoid paying for telephone calls.
