ARLA/CLUSTER: Resumo da Conferencia da IARU R3 no Vietname

IARU Region 3 Conference ends

Hosted by the Vietnam Amateur Radio Club (VARC), the well-attended triennial regional conference has ended with 16 regional societies having representation and more than 80 delegates and observers.

The conference held at the Kimdo-Royal Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City from November 5 to 9, broke into dedicated workshops to discuss the multitude of issues raised and finalised them in the plenary session.

Of importance were the finances, through a budget and member society subscriptions, and constitutionally an increase in Directors to share the load from 5 to 6.

The Directors are Joong Guen Rhee HL1AQQ, Shizuo Endo JE1MUI, Peter Lake ZL2AZ, Geoff Atkinson VK3TL, Wisnu Widjaja YB0AZ, and Gopal Madhavan VU2GMN, who also becomes the Chairman. Katsumi Yamamoto JA1CJP was also elected Secretary.

The conference heard that at the IARU Administrative Council meeting held earlier, a Michael J. Owen VK3KI Award was established to recognise an individual or individuals that best exemplify the dedication and hard work of IARU volunteers.

It was further proposed at the conference by the WIA that an annual award or trophy be introduced in his name for the highest IARU Region 3 individual operator score in the IARU HF Contest. It was warmly received and the details are to be announced later.

ORARI, the Organisasi Radio Amatir Indonesia, proposed and was accepted as the hosts of the next conference in Yogyakarta Indonesia in the second half of 2015.
