Assunto: [CT-Com. & Tec.] Opera Beacons

Desconhecia este novo modo de beacons.
Há um colega que procura "dadores"
Parece interessante, mas se é preciso um PC para descodificar, creio não haver grande vantagem contra o velhinho CW.

""""""Wanted !! Opera Beacon/qso testers

Opera is standalone digital mode , using SS data processing and ON/OFF single carrier keying. It is unique in that upto 50% of the transmission, randomly along the time time, may be lost , whilst still fully decoding.

The on/off keying thus enables 'any' Tx to be used , eg, ex-pmr , fm radios , ssb , or CW , PIC+DDS systems etc

The QSO mode allows upto 15 Chrs to be sent at a min decode level of -20 dB (s/n readings are based on average and display approx +6dB higher than wspr) and takes 120 seconds to tx.

The 30 second beacon version is provided to enable aircraft meteor propagation to be investigated , requiring 15 seconds of the TX for minimum decode

NO Internet time locking is required , web linking provides distance and other station info , but plays no part in the tx/rx

With the on set of summer, it could be a ideal time to add the Opera beacon to any CW beacon's , experimental or otherwise

Opera is now in wide spread use from experimental air&ground transmission on 8Khz, 136/500 Khz , HF up to VHF ,

The software has provision for direct CW keying of the Tx via the com-port, or direct audio drive, via ,ssb conversion, separate PTT and Key outputs are provide for station switching

A PIC code facility also provided to allow PIC tx control , encoding the station call sign.

Reception is via recovered audio from a conventional SSB receiver, to pc sound card as per other data modes.

The beacon is directly linked to the psk-reporting map. as well as to other users , sharing reports and tx announcements via the web

Encoded are the following frequency's , for normal use , all that is needed is the usb-dial set frequency , but for direct keying of a standalone beacon, then the carrier frequency, must be placed inside the bracketed qrg , to ensure the correct Rx pass band is addressed ,

OP1 70.090 usb dial QSO (7000912 700916)
OP1 Beacon (700916 7009200)
OP0.5 70.091 usb dial Beacon only (70.0926 / 70.093 )

If the station cannot directly be set via the CAT , then this must be disabled and the appropriate Opera qrg selected from the list, this in turn selects the correct mode
