New DXCC entity Kosovo soon?

Almost four and a half years after obtaining its independence the
Kosovo, former province of Serbia, shall receive its full sovereignty
in September.

This was decided by the International Steering Group, as the Austrian
Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger announced in Vienna last Monday.

Accordingly, the group decided to end international supervision with
immediate effect to support the independence of Kosovo.

25 countries are belonging to the International Steering Group,
including Germany and most other EU countries, the United States and
Turkey. The concept of "supervised independence" was invented by the
former Finnish UN Special Envoy for Kosovo Martti Ahtisaari. The
meeting of the group in Vienna was attended also by the Kosovo Prime
Minister Hashim Thaci.
