RS-39 heard

On the AMSAT bulletin board Jakub Hruska reported receiving signals from RS-39 shortly after deployment.

Chibis was heard during short pass (6deg max EL) over central Europe.

Both frequencies (435.315 and 435.215 MHz) seems to be active, with lower one modulated with some data/voice and upper one first just CW beacon, then switched to modulated as well.

FFT spectrum screenshot: http://www.r00t.cz/tmp/rs39.png

Signals were really weak, but next pass should be better.
Times of signal AOS/LOS fit the PROGRESS-M 13M keps.

For the next pass he reported:

CW telemetry on 435.315MHz:
RS3? UB??16 IBS122 UIUN22 ISUN0 ITXA0 ITXB0 TTXA136 TTXB134 TNAP133
TAB137 MSEP0 MCON5 SMA100 SMB99 MRXA2 MRX?F
RS39 UBI1W4 IBS80 ASUEEW ISUD0 ITXA0 ITXB0 TTXA135 TTXB136 TNAP13X
?XB237 MSEP0 MCON5 SMAJ?3 SMB94 MRXA2 MRXB2
RS39 UBS132 IBS59 USUN?8
RS39 UM??W2 IBS59 USUN21

On 435.215MHz, some data (PM carrier with sidebands, my guess is 1200Bd manchester coded).

In India Nitin VU3TYG reported:
Heard the RS-39 CW telemetry during the 4:14 UTC pass over India.
Recording can be found at http://www.vu3tyg.addr.com/RS-39/ .

Thesignals were strong and I was following the keps of the Progress M13 M cargo ship. The RS -39 CW signals were heard 2 minutes after Progress M13 in range.

RS-39 Chibis-M deploys tonight

RS-39 will be deployed at around 23:18:30 UT on Tuesday, January 24, and radio amateurs are asked to send reception reports.

RS-39 has CW beacons on 435.315 and 435.215 MHz that can be received directly by schools and colleges for educational outreach purposes.

The team of RS-39 will very much appreciate any reception reports of "Chibis-M". Special attention is requested for the first orbits as these are outside of control stations for "Chibis-M". Each report will be confirmed by special QSL card. The email address is amateur-rs39 chibis.cosmos.ru

It will be worth checking the AMSAT Bulletin Board (AMSAT-BB) around the expected time of deployment for the very latest news.
The 48-hour archive of the AMSAT-BB is at http://www.amsat.org/amsat/archive/amsat-bb/48hour/threads.html

Respeitosos cumprimentos,

Paulo Fernandes
