Response from Ofcom on 5 MHz NoV
The RSGB report that following proposals from the RSGB to Ofcom, aimed
at harmonising our NoV access to 5 MHz with that access enjoyed by
radio amateurs in other countries, the Society has received an offer
from the primary user, which in the UK is the MoD.
As has been reported earlier the MoD was unable to meet our request
for access over a continuous range, i.e. a band, but has offered a
number of small frequency blocks, which includes all of the present 3
kHz wide channels.
The offer is quite complex and the Society’s view is that we need to
seek views from members and non-members of the UK amateur community as
to how we respond.
Accordingly, we will be launching a second “Litmus Test” discussion on
1 March entitled “New 5 MHz NoV proposals”. The details of the offer,
a draft response from the RSGB and a link to the “Litmus Test”
discussion will be uploaded to www.rsgb.org/consultations/ by 1 March.
