Experimental high-altitude balloon flight from Cambridge today
We are planning to launch a balloon today from Cambridge, UK at 12:30UTC with an on-board radio transmitter. It'll be a test of a new type of balloon to see whether it actually works and will float!
The current predicted trajectory has it heading out over Suffolk and Norfolk and then over the North Sea towards The Netherlands/Denmark.
Like many of the high altitude balloon flights in the UK this will be transmitting on 434.072Mhz USB RTTY 50 baud, ASCII-8, 425 shift, no parity and 2 stop bits.
We would gratefully appreciate help tracking the balloon this afternoon especially those who are based in Norfolk/ Suffolk/Netherlands/Denmark. The best way to do this is to use the modified version of the excellent FLdigi; dl-fldigi a guide can be found here: http://ukhas.org.uk/guides:tracking_guide .
The flight path will be plotted on http://spacenear.us/
tracker/ and a build log of the payload can be found here: http://ukhas.org.uk/projects:picoatlas .
Finally there will be discussion of the flight on #highaltitude channel on irc.freenode.net
Thanks
