Another milestone reached by ILLW

The 400th entry in the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend goes to Bill Tinnion M0DXT at the Maryport old lighthouse in Cumbria, England.

Not previously activated on the weekend, its octagonal cast iron shape makes it the first of that construction type in England and possibly the world's oldest using the technique.

Previously announced were the 200th entry at Sea Hill Point by the Central Queensland Amateur Radio Association VK4CQR, and the 300th was from Team ON6HR at Rovargrund Lighthouse, Finland.

As far as totals go the USA has taken the lead on 65, followed by Australia on 63. The pair is followed by Germany, England and the Netherlands. Then Sweden, Scotland, Canada, South Africa, Finland, Portugal, and New Zealand. In all up to 50 countries have entered.

With the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend on August the 20th and 21st organizers are confident that even more entries will be received in coming days, despite the impacts of seismic disasters, financial woes and riots.

Check it all out at the website illw.net which includes an online entry form and the guidelines for this fun 48-hour event.
