Hi Everybody,

I have posted a short video on YouTube demonstrating how the G4KLX ircDDB Gateway software works together with the Dummy Repeater software.

ircDDB is a method of updating/exchanging callsign routing information in a D-Star gateway regardless of what type of gateway... Icom G2 on US Trust, Icom G2 on private trust, Open G2, G4KLX, etc.

I'm quite excited about ircDDB. I see potential with ircDDB to bring the entire D-Star world together, sort of like a D-Star United Nations... where all can meet and talk a common language. (-:

Database updating is the key that enables ircDDB to be used on a US Trust Icom G2 gateway. It does not create new database entries, ircDDB will only modify an existing entry.
Of course, non ircDDB enabled US Trust systems will still use the Icom G2 software for exchanging callsign routing info, but only from other US Trust gateways. The ircDDB client does not affect traditional gateway operation at all.

Shown in the video is callsign routing to and from the VK5REX D-Star repeater (ircDDB client enabled on US Trust) and the G4KLX ircDDB Gateway software running on a laptop PC together with the Dummy Repeater software which emulates a G4KLX software based D-Star repeater. I also demo a Dplus link to the VK5REX B repeater from the ircDDB Gateway.

It's not the best quality video or presentation, but I hope D-Star users and gateway owners find it interesting.
