A draft standard for BPL is anticipated to be completed over coming months, ready for a vote by members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) later this year.

Meanwhile, a Working Party of  the International Telecommunications Union (ITU)  - ITU-R - has been examining interference protection levels required by various radio services. It is anticipated they will produce a report, possibly for the next meeting of the Working Party, to be held in Korea over 27 February to 4 March.
