ARLA/CLUSTER: N.º de radioamadores aumenta no Reino Unido.

Prezados Colegas,
Contrariando a tendência registada em muitos países, no Reino Unido, os números totais de radioamadores licenciados são animadores, não só a nível anual como mensal, superando este ano o n.º total absoluto desde 1994.

Como podem verificar, não só o numero aumentou, como existe uma vontade de progressão nas diferentes categorias ou classes.

De salientar, que o n.º de estações dos Rádio Clubes também sofreram um aumento significativo, para +76.

No entanto, somente daqui a 5 anos, aquando da renovação da maioria das licenças, se poderá ter a certeza se estes dados são consistentes e se de alguma forma o declínio registado entre 1995 e 2003 está ultrapassado.

 De realçar, que desde 2003 existe um aumento muito ligeiro no numero total de estações no serviço de amador.

Também chamar a vossa atenção, que o Reino Unido, foi um dos primeiro países, breves meses após, a adoptar as recomendações da WRC-03 para o serviço de amador e dai não se estranhar o facto de nesse mesmo ano ter existido um aumento de +7,3%, atribuível ao fim dos exames de CW e a alguns reajustamentos que isso implicou, contrariando assim os dados registado desde 1995.

The UK regulator Ofcom has supplied the figures for the total number of Amateur Radio Licences issued as at 31st December 2007.

The change over the year should be treated with some caution. It appears to show that the number of Advanced licence holders increased by 1246, however, if you look carefully at the 2006 Advanced figures you will see that December represented a fall of 2857 over November.

In December 2006 the UK Regulator Ofcom introduced a new Online licensing/renewal system. While the new online system provided a significantly improved service to Radio Amateurs the fact that the number of Advanced holders fell by 2857 may indicate that some Amateurs experienced initial difficulties in renewing and that the December 2006 Advanced figure is understated.

The number of Foundation licences increased by 1725 over the year. This might just about keep pace with the numbers dying or leaving the hobby. It is unlikely that many relatives of deceased Amateurs or those leaving the hobby would bother to inform Ofcom of the change so they will continue to appear in the monthly figures. It will only be in 4 years time when the 5 year licences issued in Dec 2006 expire that we will see the true picture.
