A report on the International Symposium on DRM Digital Broadcasting is now available and it raises the problems Power Line Communications (PLC) can cause to DRM broadcasts.

The event organised by the Voice of Russia and Deutsche Welle was held on the 9-10th October in Moscow and attracted over 100 participants.

It was said at the symposium that the Russian Federation is technically ready to implement DRM and the Government may make an announcement in the 1st quarter of 2008.

The symposium heard that the 26 MHz DRM tests in London had shown the problems caused by the high noise levels at HF frequencies now found in urban areas.

Power Line Communications (PLC), which generate high levels of RF pollution causing interference across the MF/HF spectrum, is considered to be a great danger to DRM.
